We Are Still Here, one of the most anticipated midnighters of SXSW, hails from first time director Ted Geoghegan and festival veteran producer Travis Stevens (Starry Eyes, Cheap Thrills). Its the tale of grieving parents, a new home and decidedly and thankfully, unfamiliar evil lurking within: fiery, murderous ghosts.
Youve likely seen the striking still of actor Elissa Dowling, heavily made up as one of the New England homes more ethereal residents (weird, if not, since its just above staring at you). Her form and the forms of fellow frighteners have since been illustrated in a beautiful poster for the film, from artists Erick Buckham and Jesse Vital (that ones just below).
We Are Still Here, the 70s-set, Fulci-influenced New England haunter premieres at SXSW this Sunday, March 15. The film stars Barbara Crampton and Andrew Sensenig as Paul and Anne, who move to the quiet New England countryside to start over after their son is killed in a car crash. But the grieving couple unknowingly become prey to a family of vengeful spirits that reside in their new home, and before long they discover that the seemingly peaceful town they’ve moved into is hiding a terrifyingly dark secret.
