David Slade is said to be in talks for The Last Voyage of the Demeter, according to a story at Heat Vision.
Set during Bram Stoker’s original “Dracula,” the script focuses on the ship that transports the vampire from Transylvania. In the original text, the vessel arrives in England with the entire crew missing, save the captain, whose body is found tied to the helm. In the script, screenwriter Bragi Schut is said to take an approach akin to Ridley Scott’s original Alien, telling the story from the point of view of the Russian crew and treating the vampire as Scott did the sci-fi terror.
While it’s noted that the project does not yet have a greenlight (or, even, Slade signed), Ben Kingsley and Noomi Rapace are said to be attached to star in supporting roles with a lead yet to be named.
If it is his next project, though, The Last Voyage of the Demeter will mark three vampire films in a row for Slade, following 30 Days of Night and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.
