Deadline reports that Jason Statham is circling the lead role in Echelon, to which Eric Bana was previously attached.
The film will be based on author Andy McNab’s Nick Stone espionage novels. The movie is expected to be an adaptation of “Firewall,” the third of 13 books in the series.
Simon Crane, stunt coordinator on The Tourist and Salt, will make his feature directing debut.
The project is set to be the first movie financed through the $250 million Hyde Park/Imagenation Abu Dhabi deal to develop, produce and distribute up to 20 movies over 7 years.
