Indie Filmmakers, Pay Attention to Hollywood Horrorfest

Miles Flanagan is the acting director of the fest and previously spearheaded the Los Angeles Animation Festival and Boobs & Blood.

“Having done the indie film festival circuit as a film producer I saw a real hunger for information from the filmmakers themselves (myself included). Everyone wanted information on how to finance and distribute their work. The old business models are dead, and we’re only just coming to grips with new ones,” says Flanagan.

HHF not only showcases new films in competition, but also helps guide filmmakers through the new digital age of filmmaking – from new approaches to financing and production to how to get sales and distribution.

“Our focus is on the filmmaker. Submit a film, screen it, walk the red carpet, win awards, have photo ops with celebrities, network, learn about the industry, and hopefully get your movie distributed too. That’s the HHF potential,” Flanagan adds.

Every screening is followed by a unique on-stage industry panel covering a different aspect of the industry. Guests include writers, managers, actors, stuntmen, directors, producers, sales agents and distributors.

“These are all people from the indie film world, not major studio execs, so they understand how the indie business really works. They have so much valuable knowledge on how to navigate your way through the industry.”
