Legendary has partnered with Beyond Fest for a one night only theatrical screening of the movie – which stars Dylan Baker, Anna Paquin, Leslie Bibb and Brian Cox – at the Egyptian Theatre in Hollywood on October 28th.
The screening will be followed by a panel that will include Dougherty along with several members of the cast. Both the showing of the film and the panel will be live-streamed nationally on Legendarys Facebook page at facebook.com/legendary.
A special poster is being created for the event and I’m told Legendary is going to make this event very special.
Although never released in theaters, Trick r Treat became a cult classic through its release on DVD, digital platforms, and extensive play in festivals.
“This is all Legendary. They’ve always been big supporters of the movie,” Dougherty told ShockTillYouDrop.com on the eve of this announcement. “They had always been rallying for a theatrical release back in the day and they were the ones that said, ‘Fine, if we’re getting a DVD release, let’s take a print and hit the festival circuit and doing underground screenings.’ This year, they really saw how the film continued to grow. Every October it jumps up into Amazon’s top 10 big titles. I think Carpenter’s Halloween and Hocus Pocus are the only ones that do that – good company to have. So, they said, this should be a tradition, let’s do an event and when they called me, my jaw hit the floor.”
