The trilogy has been adapted into one feature screenplay, titled Damnation Street, by the books writer. The film will be produced by Samantha Lusk, Andrew Hyatt and Seth David Mitchell of Fox Hill Productions (The Frozen, The Last Light).
“We’re thrilled to be working with one of the masters of mystery, says Lusk. In Damnation Street Klavan has crafted a story that not only presents a unique, gritty and hyper-real world, but also pays homage to the classic elements of the genre. This script does for noir what Unforgiven did for westerns.”
Damnation Street is an edgy, neo-noir thriller centered on a cat and mouse game between a skilled private detective and a famed serial killer who are both in pursuit of a woman who is the fantasy of every man.
A two-time recipient of the Mystery Writers of Americas Edgar Award, Klavan is an American writer best known for authoring the novels True Crimes and Dont Say a Word, both of which have been turned into motion pictures. Warner Brothers True Crimes starred Clint Eastwood and James Woods. Dont Say a Word, which featured Michael Douglas, Sean Bean and Brittany Murphy, was released by Twentieth Century Fox.
Fox Hill Productions films include The Frozen, starring Brit Morgan (HBOs True Blood) and Noah Segan (Looper) and The Last Light, which is currently in post-production, featuring Edward Furlong (The Green Hornet, American History X, Terminator 2: Judgment Day), Jeff Fahey (Machete, Lost), Tahyna Tozzi (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Molly Hagen (The Lucky Ones, Election) and Ed Quinn (The Caller). Their third production The Stanleys will begin shooting in North Carolina in May 2013.
