Director Gary Ross has revealed to EW that his adaptation of the bestselling Suzanne Collins novel, The Hunger Games is planned for a PG-13 rating to accommodate the book’s teenage fans.
“It’s their story,” Ross says, “and they deserve to be able to access it completely. And I don’t think it needs to be more extreme than that.”
The science fiction novel, aimed at young adults, tells the tale of dystopic future and the annual “Hunger Games,” a fight to the death on live television.
Ross, best known for Pleasantville and Seabiscuit is currently developing the project at Lionsgate.
