Joss Whedon’s S.H.I.E.L.D. Kills Weird Desk?

There was a show ABC apparently seemed so excited about the network ordered up a full season.  But that show is no more.  Last week, we told you ABC ordered 13 episodes of The X-Files-esque Weird Desk, about “the alleged real-life mysteries from this world and beyond, it centers on the workings of a clandestine organization rumored to be named ‘Weird Desk.'”

The order has been put on hold and it may be due to ABC’s upcoming S.H.I.E.L.D. series – the extension of Marvel’s superhero universe that is being spearheaded by Joss Whedon (The Avengers).

Per Deadline:

I hear there was concern, at Marvel and internally at ABC, that Weird Desk may be similar to Joss Whedon’s high-profile ABC pilot S.H.I.E.L.D., an offshoot of blockbuster vengers franchise. There is speculation about objections from Marvel, one of Disney Co.’s most prized possessions, to the new project.

ABC may revisit Weird Desk at another time.
