In fact, this short came in second (as a “runner-up”) at Fantastic Fest under the short horror film category. (Full disclosure: I served on the jury in this category with two colleagues from FEARnet and Fangoria.)
The Sleepover is a proof of concept piece, meaning the filmmaker, Chris Cullari, is using it to tout a feature film he’d like to see come to fruition. The story concerns a town living “between the sequels” of its infamous masked killer.
