With the film quickly approaching though, there’s no better time to have another story from the series. On November 28th we will see the release of R.I.P.D.: City of the Damned #1 and we have a six-page preview inside. The comic will function as a prequel to the upcoming film and is described as follows:
Roy Pulsipher and Nick Walker are dead, but that doesnt mean their time in law enforcement is over. Both Roy and Nick are officers in the Rest in Peace Department, sworn to serve the Almighty and protect the living from evils foul corruption. Their current case has them chasing a ghostly fanatic determined to undo all of creationa threat with very personal connections to Roys past, stretching back a hundred years into a weird, Wild West and Roys first day on the job. Its a twisted history that Nick is only starting to uncover, and one that could have him reconsidering ever joining the R.I.P.D.!
The series will be written by Jeremy Barlow (Dethklok) and drawn by Tony Parker (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?).
The film starring Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges will be released July 19, 2013.
