If you recall, the film was being groomed a big budget adventure flick in the vein of Jumanji over at Paramount. A bit of cost-cutting and rights reshuffling found the film kicked over to Universal and the budget being pared back significantly. Platinum Dunes is now producing the flick with Blumhouse Productions, know for their low budget/high box office yield films like Paranormal Activity.
Variety reports that Juliet Snowden and Stiles White are going to not only re-write the existing script, but direct it as well.
The duo recently penned The Possession, which is heading into theaters August 31st.
