A pre-sale ticket stub for Ridley Scott’s Prometheus has revealed that the film apparently has received an R rating from the MPAA. For those who get flustered over ratings, this should appease you.
Update: Prometheus is indeed rated R for “sci-fi violence including some intense images, and brief language.”
The rating of the June 8th Fox release has been at the center of much speculation. Naturally, if the film received a PG-13 rating, that would open the door to more ticket sales. However, some feel “R” is the only way to go and anything less would somehow mean the film will be weak sauce. Scott has said that the cut of the film hitting theaters is his vision and Fox’s CEO stated this cut would not be “compromised.” All good things.
