Something to Read: The Walking Dead: Rise of the Governor

A new novel explores villain’s past

Robert Kirkman’s first in a three book series with Thomas Dunne Books, an imprint of St. Martin¹s Press will hit shelves nationwide October 11 and is now available for pre-sale on Amazon.com.

The book, which Kirkman co-authored with horror genre vet Jay Bonansinga, is titled “The Walking Dead: The Rise of the Governor.”

For those in-the-know when it comes to the comic book series (he has yet to appear in the television show), The Governor is one bad, sick motherf**ker. And he runs the walled-off town of Woodbury where some pretty brutal games take place.

“The Rise of the Governor” will explore how this man came into power.

Kirkman says, “There are many pieces of the overall Walking Dead puzzle that just don’t fit in the comic book series. The Governor’s story is one of them. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity for these stories to be told and working with Jay Bonansinga to bring them into the world has been amazing.”
