Rumor: A Director Circles Stephen King’s The Stand

A multi-picture event?

Interesting news from Vulture today…

Harry Potter director David Yates, according to the site’s sources, is mulling over the decision to take the helm of Warner Bros.’ upcoming big screen adaptation of Stephen King’s “The Stand.”

What I find more fascinating about their report is this: Vulture says Warner Bros. has plans to turn “The Stand” into a three-picture project. Certainly makes sense given the scope of the source material. Hell, not even Mick Garris could condense it into a two-hour film, hence the television mini-series that came about in the early-’90s.

Vulture says Yates has been re-reading the book and he’s going to make a decision soon.
