Collet-Serra to Make Dracula Scary Again in Harker

The upcoming Stoker adaptation

Jaume Collet-Serra has a lot on his plate. He launched a new company to shepherd fledgling talent and he’s got a number of projects on the slab, including Harker.

The director of House of Wax, Orphan and Unknown will direct the film for Leonard DiCaprio’s Appian Way. Scripted by Lee Shipman and Brian McGreevy, the story finds a young Jonathan Harker working for Scotland Yard who is tracking Dracula.

Collet-Serra spoke to Aullidos about project and said, “Basically, we intend to make a film based on [Bram] Stoker’s Dracula, but I respect the book. [Today is all about] vampires and very romance for girls thirteen years. But we want to bring back Dracula and demonstrate who is boss.”

Essentially, make him a bad-ass again.

The director is presently in post-production on The River, the pilot episode of a new television series created by Oren Peli.
