Three upcoming horror films
American World Pictures passed along details on its slate of films up for grabs at the Cannes film market this year. You can see trailers for each of these titles below.
Jack the Reaper, starring Tony Todd, Douglas Tait and Sally Kirkland, tells of a cold-blooded creature known as Railroad Jack haunts a stretch of desert highway called Deathâs Door, waiting for his next victims. He is a Reaper, one who ushers souls to the afterlife, willing or no. Railroad Jack stalks the desert, drawing prey to the abandoned roadside carnival that is his weapon. When a school bus carrying a group of teens on a field trip happens through Deathâs Door, Railroad Jack lays claim to their souls. Making sure their bus crashes, he entices them with the lights and sounds of his deadly carnival. The teens explore and terror ensues as the Reaper picks them off one by one.
In the terrorizing tale of Boggy Creek, when Jennifer’s father dies in a horrific accident, she finds herself drawn to his cabin he once inhabited in the town of Boggy Creek, Texas, to learn more about the man she knew so little of. When she arrives with a group of friends, they encounter an evil that has lurked near the waters of Boggy Creek for three decades. Murdering men and abducting women, these terrifying creatures viciously attack anyone that dares to go near their feeding grounds. What begins as a journey of self discovery becomes a desperate flight for survival along Boggy Creek.
In the thriller Spirit Hunters, cinematographer and soundman, Morgan and Cricket, head to a remote Idaho ranch to film the pilot episode of “Spirit Seekers,” a new reality TV show about ghost hunters. When a host dies during filming, the production shuts down. Unbeknownst to the cast and crew, the showâs director planned the hostâs death to boost ratings. Dr. Randolf Fairfax (Doug Jones) fears the bloodshed has awoken supernatural spirits that are now hell bent on their own revenge! The crew must try to survive, dodging bullets, ghosts, and a scheming television producer (Robert Picardo) as they race to find out what is really going on at the end of the road.
