Exclusive Shock Video: Patrick Wilson & Rose Byrne on Insidious

Haunted house horrors from Wan and Whannell

Saw creators James Wan and Leigh Whannell are back with their third collaboration, Insidious, a twisted take on the haunted house genre that’s just as scary, creepy and bizarre as Saw or Dead Silence.

Fans of classic horror like Poltergeist and The Shining should appreciate what the duo have done to bring elements from those films into a more contemporary setting. Part of why the movie works so much better than other attempts to recapture the magic of those movies is the duo’s casting of strong dramatic actors in Patrick Wilson (Watchmen) and Rose Byrne (Troy, “Damages”) to play the heads of a household that falls into disarray when their eldest son falls into a coma-like sleep and dangerous entities start showing up to claim his dormant body.

ShockTillYouDrop.com had an all-too-brief video interview with the two actors in New York City last week, in which we talked about:

* How they each found out about the project

* Whether it was obvious from the script how scary the movie was going to be

* Are they able to be scared of a movie they’re in?

* Did the movie seem as crazy as it is while they were making it?

* Their own connections to Poltergeist and The Shining

* What James is like to work with on set

* Whether any odd occurrences happened on set

* What they have coming up

And more!

Insidious opens nationwide on Friday, April 1. You can read our previous interview with Wan and Whannell here.
