George Clooney will adapt the West End’s “Enron” stage play into movie, reports The Observer. “Spider-Man” franchise producer Laura Ziskin has acquired the rights and said she will produce the film.
Playwright Lucy Prebble is writing the screenplay for the project, which recounts the spectacular decline of the U.S. energy company.
Clooney will co-produce and is also likely to direct, but it’s unclear whether he will act in the film as well. The British stage cast is not expected to be involved, nor is their director Rupert Goold.
“Once you’ve done something… you’ve done it,” Ziskin said about their exclusion. “Let that stand on its own.”
