Boyle Addresses 28 Months Later Buzz

Not coming any time soon

Danny Boyle is out promoting his latest film 127 Hours, and during a screening this week he addressed the rumors that he was returning to the director’s chair for 28 Months Later.

The bottom line is that his schedule is jam-packed at the moment, he told an audience in Washington, D.C. If the fans are there and there is a demand to see a third entry, then it will likely happen. Presently, however, Boyle is taking on a stage play of Frankenstein in London. Following that, he’s taking on the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympics.

Boyle remains interested in 28 Months Later, but it doesn’t appear as if it will happen any time before 2012. Furthermore, those rights issues addressed by writer Alex Garland here, might still be a factor as well.

When we reached out to our Fox Searchlight reps about 28 Months Later, they informed us that they could not comment on the matter.
