But let’s not get our panties in a bunch…
Some are so easy to have a knee-jerk reaction to everything. Waking up to “Jaws will be in 3D! Muuuuaaaah!” everywhere is something I never want to read, but now having seen the context, I’m still breathing easy.
The L.A. Times recently ran a look back at the career of producer Richard Zanuck who has been on the scene for quite some time. He was behind Jaws and is currently working with Tim Burton Dark Shadows. It’s about the former mentioned film that the Times says this in their piece:
“Zanuck and Spielberg spoke a few years ago about going back to the original film with the digital paintbrush of CG effects to create a more horrific predator. They decided, for the time being, to leave the film alone, although Zanuck says he is intrigued by the notion of adding 3D effects to the 1976 classic for a theatrical re-release.”
“Intrigued by the notion.” Doesn’t mean it IS happening, folks. I’m glad Zanuck/Spielberg eschewed the “notion” of redoing the film with CG FX. Perhaps that frame of mind will prevail if they continue to think about the 3D process.
