It’s Alive! Wanted Director Exploring Frankenstein

Based on Peter Ackroyd’s novel

Timur Bekmambetov (Nightwatch, Wanted) is quickly becoming one of those directors who throws a bunch of projects at the wall until one sticks.

His name has been bandied about with a few films, one being The Last Witch Hunter which Cory Goodman scripted. Now Production Weekly says he’s attached to direct an adaptation of “The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein.”

Published in the U.S. last year, and written by Peter Ackroyd, the story pairs Victor Frankenstein and poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (who would go on to marry “Frankenstein” author Mary Shelley) and is a unique spin on the mythos. Screenwriter David Auburn (Proof) penned the adaptation.

We’ll see if this pans out. Like I said, Bekmambetov it juggling a few potential films.

This is now the third Frankenstein-related project to be announced within the last year behind I, Frankenstein and Dean Koontz’s Frankenstein.
