Based on true events in Australia
Because there are shortage of real-life atrocities, the slew of films we see in our genre based on real-life maniacs (Dahmer, Gacy, et al.) continue.
Production outfits Warp Films and Madman announced they’re moving forward on a film based on the discovery of eight bodies stuffed into barrels of acid in Showtown, Australia – the aftermath of a 12-person murder spree that occurred between ’92 and ’99. Four people were charged in the murders, let by John Bunting. More on this case here.
Justin Kurzel will direct the film – which is currently untitled – from a script by Shaun Grant. The story is told from the point of view a teen who crosses Bunting’s path.
