The fact that Jay Baruchel’s “endgame” is to become the next David Cronenberg fascinates me. Here’s a young actor who’s been seen in Tropic Thunder, Almost Famous and now She’s Out of My League – who has the potential to keep pushing through the mainstream – and what does he want to do? Well, as he told our brother site, ComingSoon.net, here: He wants to live in Montreal and make horror movies.
One project he wants to get off the ground is called Pig, “a 21st century re-imagining of the slasher film with a lot of socio-racial commentary.”
He talked a bit more about the film. Here’s what he had to say: Pig is about “a crazy white cop who chases four black kids throughout the ghetto on July 4. It’ll be subversive and controversial and polarizing, but thatâs what’s best in horror, the movies that do that to people.”
