Universal, Working Title thinks it’s possible
Update: Simon Pegg states via his Twitter account, “Contrary to reports there are no plans for a Shaun Of The Dead TV show. Thought you’d like to know.” Okey-dokey. I guess Universal/Working Title don’t know what they’re talking about?
We might not see a sequel to Edgar Wright’s horror-comedy Shaun of the Dead any time soon, but a television series is possible.
NBC Universal and the recently launched television division Working Title in the UK are eyeing a number of films to develop for the small screen. Shaun of the Dead is one property being considered.
Both entities assert that the deal to do a Shaun series, and the other titles they have in the works (including Bridget Jones and Four Weddings and a Funeral), is still early and there are many “hurdles” to overcome. The series would be geared for U.S. viewers.
For more, read on. Is Shaun right for television? Possibly. I presume they’d either pick up where the film left off or re-introduce the film in some way to get audiences up to speed.
