Mike Mitchell Tapped To Direct Monster Squad

No, it’s not a remake of Dekker’s cult classic…

Variety reports that Shrek Forever After director Mike Mitchell has been tapped by Warner Brothers to direct the comedy-fantasy project Monster Squad, originally attached to McG to direct back in 2007 from a script by Michael Arndt.

Don’t worry, Shock readers – this is not a remake of Fred Dekker’s beloved cult classic The Monster Squad, but actually based on a spec script originally titled Nightcrawlers which centered on the adventures of an international coalition of kids whose job it was to combat a variety of monsters found under beds.

The studio’s keeping the latest logline under wraps for the latest version of the script by Brad Copeland.

While not exactly “horror” related, we just wanted to point out this has nothing to do with The Monster Squad. Quite frankly, we’re not sure why they wouldn’t change the title back again to avoid confusion. Nightcrawlers seems more appropriate considering the above premise.
