What’s the Status of Constantine 2?

Surprising answer from producer

The likelihood of a Constantine 2 was looking spotty for a while. Following Constantine‘s release in 2005, all parties involved, when pressed for details on a sequel, seemed unsure if we’d seen John Constantine return. Director Francis Lawrence told us in 2007 he’d be down to direct another film.

Producer Lauren Shuler Donner told SciFi Wire recently, however that the notion of a follow-up, “Looks very good. Thinking about it. Looking for a writer.”

Interesting. Questions now arise: Would Keanu Reeves reprise his role? What storyline in the comic book series would they pull inspiration from? And, are they considering a “reboot” much like what Marvel did with the Hulk?

Constantine opened in February of 2005 and grossed over $200 million worldwide. It took in $75 million domestically.
