Greek Wedding meets Shaun of the Dead
Director Gurinder Chadha has cast Indian actress Shabana Azmi for a leading role along with newcomer Goldy Notay, Sanjeev Bhaskar, Shaheen Khan (Bend It Like Beckham) and Sendhil Ramamurthy (Heroes) for the horror-comedy It’s a Wonderful Afterlife.
Chadha has been quoted in the past for describing the film as a mix between My Big Fat Greek Wedding and Shaun of the Dead. The story follows a British-Asian mother whose obsession is to marry off her daughter which comically leads to serial murder.
Chadha is co-writing and producing the pic with husband Paul Berges. Lensing begins in the U.K. in April.
