Studio suits up for remake?
Director Rob Cohen tells B-D Paramount Pictures snatched up the remake rights to Fred Dekker’s cult fave The Monster Squad. Cohen co-produced the original in ’87, he would reprise his duties on the remake. What’s unknown is exactly when Paramount made the purchase or how far along they are in their intent to development a re-telling.
In The Monster Squad, a group of youngsters band together, with the help of the Frankenstein Monster, to stop Dracula, the Wolf Man, the Mummy and the Gill Man in their question to gain a powerful amulet. Lionsgate released a 2-disc special edition last year, introducing the film to a whole new generation of horror fans.
