Strange Days Ahead at Dark Horse

Goth icon to brood on film

Here’s one for the Hot Topic crowd.

Sour-faced Emily the Strange, a goth munchkin created by Rob Reger, is coming to the big screen by way of Dark Horse Entertainment. Reportedly, DH head Mike Richard will be looking for a director who “gets” the Strange character who is usually accompanied by her four cats on t-shirts, stickers and other merchandise.

Reger whipped up a story for the feature film. It’s uncertain whether it will be live-action, animation or both. Strange became the subject of a Dark Horse comic in the mini-series Emily the Strange: Chairman of the Bored in 2005.

The project is not set up at any studio, however, it is believed Universal will look at the property first in keeping with Dark Horse’s first-look agreement with them.
