Anchor Bay Goes to the Starz

Changes in place at horror distributor

Is Anchor Bay’s calming boat-on-the-ocean logo sinking? Appears so. If you haven’t taken note already, AB’s recent slate of DVDs – including those from “Masters of Horror” season 2 – now include a “Starz” insignia.

What’s the deal? Anchor Bay, as well as its proud papa, IDT Entertainment, have been absorbed by Starz. It’s been a slow process that any astute observer could have picked up on beginning with the sale of IDT to Starz last year. The acquisition of Adam Green’s Hatchet and Scott Glosserman’s Behind the Mask also dropped a few hints. Both films were paraded at last year’s AFM with both the Anchor Bay and Starz logo. Now IDT and Anchor Bay are being branded generally as Starz Media and Starz Home Entertainment, respectively.

Goodbye little boat, we’ll miss the peace you brought us before the full-tilt horror entertainment began.
