RAW Travels Through Dark Country

Thomas Jane…director

Raw Entertainment, the production banner birthed by Steve Niles and Thomas Jane, has opened its doors to another partner, in case you haven’t heard: famed comic artist Tim Bradstreet (“The Punisher,” “Criminal Macabre”).

The company that was formed in 2005 celebrated the Friday release of its first splatterific endeavor, David Arquette’s The Tripper. To be fair, Niles and Jane had more to do with that film’s start than Bradstreet, but the artist will have a hand in future Raw films including Dark Country, a passion project for Jane.

“Tom and I have been making tweaks to the script for ‘Dark Country,’ written by Tab Murphy which Tom will direct and star in at the end of the year,” Bradstreet tells CBR. “I’ll be on board as the film’s art director and creative source. Then we have a film called ‘The Amateur Kind.’ I’m hoping to take a step up and do production design and art direction on that. We also have ‘The Lurkers’ [written by Niles] in development at Lionsgate. I got to do the teaser poster for it.”

Tab Murphy penned a number of Disney’s animated features such as Tarzan, Atlantis and The Hunchback of Notre Dame

The last time Shock caught up to Jane, he spun us an idea of what to expect from “Country”: a couple who are mixed up with a dead body while on a road trip. Part horror, part noir with an interesting visual approach that compliments California’s arid, rocky terrain. Things sound like they’re moving on the film so we’ll keep our ear to the pavement for more updates!
