Pig Hunt Hoofs it to San Fran

Skinwalkers director begins his next project

A giant pig has entered Jim Isaac’s life and she isn’t a new addition to Kristie Alley’s latest Weight Watchers commercials. From the sounds of it, the Jason X director seems to have been struck with some inspiration from Russell Mulcahy’s Razorback (big plus around these parts) and a whole lot more.

Fangoria is reporting Isaac will roll cameras in the Bay Area this month on Pig Hunt, an everything-but-the-kitchen-sink wild ride that surrounds a few friends who head out to a relative’s ranch and become embroiled in a bunch of antics all surrounding a gigantic black boar dubbed “The Ripper.”

Isaac has culled together a mostly unknown cast from the San Francisco area (where he intends to shoot his nature-run-amok opus) but Primus fans will be pleased to know their favorite frontman Les Claypool (“South Park,” “Robot Chicken”) has a part. The film also reunites Isaac with director of photography Adam Kane who also shot Isaac’s Skinwalkers (due this summer from After Dark Films). “Our goal is to make this movie our way,” Isaac tells Fango, “without the influence of the Hollywood machine that unfortunately has created a system that chips away at the creative process with little respect for the filmmakers. I simply want to do something my way for once.”

“His way” of course means the inclusion of hippies with machetes and pig-worshipping babes with knives. And there’s nothing wrong with that now, is there? Kerner Optical is taking the jump into the production trough with Isaac to bring all 3,000-pounds of Ripper to life.
