The ’80s slasher remake coming in ’08
Screen Gems’ Prom Night is going to be one of those films that casting directors will be seeing listed on the flipside of head-shots for years to come. Reason being: So many extras are going to be in this flick, it’s ridiculous. Much like how I saw tons of graduates of Can’t Hardly Wait stroll through a casting office one month while working on a project. This one? It’s a prom night movie. You’ve got to load it up.
So it comes as no surprise that names are still being thrown into Nelson McCornick’s remake of the 1980 slasher by Paul Lynch and starring Jamie Lee Curtis. Variety is reporting Jessalyn Gilsig (pictured) and Kellan Lutz are the latest additions. The former is a “Nip/Tuck” vet like McCornick and Prom Night leading lady Brittany Snow. On the series Gilsig played a sex-addicted nutjob in Dr. Christian Troy’s life. Lutz, meanwhile, appeared in Stick It and recently wrapped shooting on The Tribe, a horror flick picked up by After Dark Films.
Prom Night is now shooting in Los Angeles with a targeted release date of February 1, 2008.
