30 Days of Night, Sentence Find Composers

Plus Iron Man and Sin City updates

Our comic book counterpart Superhero Hype! spotted a slice of horror-related news that’s ShockTillYouDrop-worthy. According to the latest issue of Film Music Weekly, the vampire invasion of the small Alaskan town of Barrow in 30 Days of Night has found its composer. Brian Reitzell is on board to music supervise, produce and score the film – an adaptation of the popular IDW comic book created by Steve Niles starring Josh Hartnett (Sin City) and Melissa George (Turistas). David Slade (Hard Candy) is directing from a script by Brian Nelson for Sam Raimi’s Ghost House Pictures.

Reitzell cut his teeth in Hollywood as a music supervisor on Sofia Coppola’s The Virgin Suicides; later he’d go on to pull similar duties for her on Marie Antoinette and CQ, a picture Coppola’s brother, Roman, directed in 2001. Reitzell’s coring credits include Friday Night Lights and Stranger Than Fiction.

Also, and this wasn’t a hard one to predict, FMW says composer Charlie Clouser will be reuniting with director James Wan on the bloody revenge thriller Death Sentence, starring Kevin Bacon and John Goodman. Clouser is also responsible for Wan’s recent Dead Silence, Saw and its subsequent sequels.
