“Highest Duty: My Search for What Really Matters”, the memoirs of Captain Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger, have been targeted for adaptation by Flashlight Films and the Kennedy/Marshall Company, reports Variety.
Sullenberger was hailed as an American hero following his emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson river in early 2009. His background, including service in the Air Force, was related in the book (written with Jeffrey Zaslow), which saw release in May of this year.
The article explains that Sullenberger, reluctant to sell the story rights, was encouraged to do so by actor and fellow pilot Harrison Ford, who pointed him in the direction of producers Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall. Though the project will be based on Sullenberger’s book, it will not necessarily retain the title and, at this point, may develop as either a feature film or a television movie.
