The Day of the Triffids is moving into development at Preger Entertainment, planned as a 3D feature, reports Variety.
A 1951 novel by John Wyndham, Triffids tells the story of genetically engineered hyper-intelligent plants that, after most of humanity is blinded by a meteor shower, begin to attack and devour the world’s population.
The story was previously adapted (albeit loosely) into a British film version in 1961 and also spawned two television serials in 1981 and 2009 (also produced by Preger).
