You’ve got to give it to Universal, they are absolutely dominating this year, bringing in more than $5.3 billion worldwide in just over seven months with two films — Jurassic World and Furious 7 — tallying more than half that number on their lonesome, slotting third and fifth on the all-time worldwide charts respectively. Now this weekend they are looking to continue their success with Straight Outta Compton tracking quite well and what better way to accompany the film’s release than with a trailer for N.W.A. co-founder Ice Cube‘s upcoming sequel with Kevin Hart, Ride Along 2?
Personally I found the first film to be a little less than mediocre and my interest in a sequel is slight as a result. Uni is sticking with the January release date, opening the same weekend as the previous movie, which tallied $134.9 million domestically on a $25 million budget.
There’s no official plot that gives us much information on the movie, but the trailer gives you everything you need to know as James (Cube) and Ben (Hart) take to Miami to take down a drug dealer played by Benjamin Bratt. Along with Cube and Hart, Ken Jeong, Olivia Munn, Bruce McGill, Tika Sumpter, Sherri Shepherd and Tyrese (in what I assume is the film’s opening) co-star.
