Over the weekend I was browsing through some of my past editorials and came across one headlined “Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens it’s more than about hope, at least for me, I can say I’m starting to feel a legitimate sense of excitement bubbling up.
Perhaps this is due to the fact we haven’t been bombarded with marketing (though that’s sure to come) and even when we have received marketing, some of it has been akin to the Comic Con trailer, which was more behind-the-scenes goodies and nostalgia than giving away much about the new film. A legitimate sense of excitement is being created rather than giving away plot elements and entire scenes. Good on ’em.
Now, today a new trailer has arrived, this one courtesy of the Korean arm of the Star Wars marketing camp, a brief, 30-second TV spot offering a little bit of new footage along with a lot of what you’ve seen already. I’m to the point where I don’t need to see anything else and I’m hoping, in the course of waiting for this film’s arrival and the obvious financial need for me to post most of what does arrive, I’m not turned from someone excited to see it to someone tired of all the marketing. For the time being, I’m happy to simply be excited.
Watch the new trailer below.
