I think I’ve seen one full trailer for The Divergent Series: Insurgent and it did nothing to raise my expectations after seeing Divergent, which I suffered through just over 11 months ago. Now Summit is set to unleash this sequel upon us and they’re offering up one final trailer before the film’s March 20 release.
Insurgent finds Tris (Shailene Woodley) and Four (Theo James) as fugitives on the run, hunted by Jeanine (Kate Winslet), the leader of the power-hungry Erudite elite. The goal here is apparently to find what Tris’s family sacrificed their lives to protect, and why the Erudite leaders will do anything to stop them. Whatever could the secret be?
I have to ask, is the bloom off this rose? The first movie opened to the tune of $54.6 million and only made $288 million worldwide. Hardly Hunger Games or Twilight numbers. Opening night audiences, however, scored the film an “A” CinemaScore, which tells me the target audience is in the bag for the franchise and likely ready to line up for the sequel, but I can’t help but feel like this one is creeping up without any of us really paying much attention.
