Entertainment Weekly has released several new images from upcoming 2015 releases including the likes of some artwork from Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens as seen directly above as well as pics from Ted 2, The Divergent Series: Insurgent, Furious 7, Jurassic World and many more. Full disclosure, just from looking at these pictures I wouldn’t have been able to figure out what some of them are from, but lucky for you this isn’t a “Guess the Movies” installment. Here’s a look at several of the new pictures along with a little commentary of my own over the course of the next couple pages.
I would have guessed this first picture below was for a Baby Mama sequel I didn’t yet know existed — in which case I’d have yelled, “Whoop whoop!” — but alas, it’s for a film called Sisters (previously known as The Nest), starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler in a story about two disconnected sisters who, when summoned home to clean out their childhood bedroom before their parents sell the family house, decide to throw one last rager.
Next, Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in The Walk, a fictionalized account of the true-life story of tightrope walker Philipe Petit, whose experience walking between the World Trade Center towers was last portrayed on screen in James Marsh‘s 2008 documentary Man on Wire. The first trailer for Robert Zemeckis‘ new film was released earlier this month, and I haven’t yet seen it, but from what I can tell in this new picture it seems we are in for some serious CG work.
And now we move on to a picture from Steven Spielberg‘s as-yet-untitled Cold War spy thriller, which shows Spielberg walking alongside star Tom Hanks. I’m a fan of this pairing, but the picture doesn’t really do anything for me. What say you?
Ted, despite the praise it received, is a movie I really didn’t care for, but I know plenty of you probably enjoyed it, so here’s Mark Wahlberg and his crass teddy bear pal (Seth MacFarlane) sitting on the side of a boat wearing scuba gear in the upcoming Ted 2. Oh, and Ted is holding a shovel. Are they hiding something, or finding something?
Next up is a picture from Joe Wright‘s Pan. I saw the trailer and wasn’t terribly impressed, but that doesn’t necessarily mean the film can’t be good. I’m terribly behind on the work of Mr. Wright, but I do plan to watch Hanna this weekend, so… yeah. I’m not sure where I was going with that, but here’s the picture from Pan, in which Hugh Jackman looks creepy as all get-out.
Before we hit the jump and continue on to page 2, below is a picture from Everest, starring Jake Gyllenhaal and all his scraggly-bearded glory in a story about two different expeditions pushed beyond their limits as they attempt to conquer the world’s tallest peak. After Prisoners, Enemy, and Nightcrawler — and not to mention my favorite role of his, as Robert Graysmith in Zodiac — I’m in the bag for pretty much anything Gyllenhaal does, and the rest of the troupe sounds very promising as well, with Jason Clarke, Josh Brolin, John Hawkes, Robin Wright, and Keira Knightley all figuring into the cast.
