UPDATE: These casting rumors indeed proved true as the new Bond title, cast and synopsis has been revelead. Click here for all the details.
It seems like only yesterday we were informed casting and title announcements for the upcoming James Bond film would be made in the wee hours of the morning tomorrow, but apparently updates like that don’t stop the rumor mill from turning, they make it run even faster.
Today brings news the names Andrew Scott and Monica Bellucci may come to the fore during tomorrow’s announcement, with Scott (“Sherlock“) apparently hand-picked to play a villain in the film and Bellucci (The Matrix Reloaded) in the mix for a role as one of Bond’s female companions, because that man can never have just one. I’m not terribly familiar with either actor, as “Sherlock” still sits in my Netflix queue (I know, I know) and Bellucci is a model-turned-actor who has been featured primarily in foreign films, though her last few years of work include quite a few English-language projects.
The official announcement comes at 6:00 AM Eastern time tomorrow, so I assume most will be waking up to the news instead of actively awaiting it, but we already know quite a bit about what to expect. Daniel Craig is back as Bond, and Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw are back as M, Moneypenny, and Q, respectively. Rounding out the returning cast is Rory Kinnear, who will reprise his Skyfall role by playing M’s right-hand man Tanner.
As for the newcomers, Lea Seydoux is expected to be the film’s femme fatale, with Dave Bautista playing a villainous henchman and Christoph Waltz rumored as the film’s chief baddie, purported to be the iconic villain Blofeld. The official announcement comes tomorrow, so we’ll likely know in just a short matter of time if Scott and/or Bellucci will be joining the cast as well. [Slashfilm]
