ScreenJunkies’ latest honest trailer is an interesting one as they dig into Disney’s The Little Mermaid and skewer its sexist themes, thus dubbing it The Little Waistline by the end. I can’t help but wonder, though, does this film not still remain a classic for boys and girls? Or have people turned their back on The Little Mermaid, and if not, shouldn’t they if they hold the belief Hollywood is sexist?
I guess I just wonder, do people watch this movie and not enjoy it because of all the negative aspects this honest trailer points out? If this movie were to come out today would it be chastised and buried or would it be just as successful?
