I wasn’t nearly as taken with the first trailer for Chappie as everyone else seemed to be. I don’t know, I guess a dystopian world where an intelligent robot goes all Johnny 5 while Hugh Jackman tries to destroy him and Dev Patel tries to protect him doesn’t exactly get spark my imaginative juices. However, as I said, everyone else seemed to love it so who am I to deprive you of anything new from the movie?
Today Fotogramas has premiered a new international poster for the movie along with a couple new pictures, but for some idea of what you’re looking at, here’s the plot as if my one sentence above wasn’t enough:
Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings – some good, some bad – and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there’s one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.
To go along with the poster and second picture below, I’ve also included the trailer if you missed it previously. Chappie arrives in theaters on March 6, 2015.
