Disney has just announced a new animated musical from Lucasfilm titled Strange Magic, which will be released by Touchstone Pictures on January 15, 2015 and just above is the first look picture from what is described as a madcap fairy tale musical inspired by “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”
The story comes from George Lucas with Gary Rydstrom (Toy Story Toons: Hawaiian Vacation) directing a voice cast that includes Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, Kristin Chenoweth, Maya Rudolph, Alfred Molina and Peter Stormare.
The film will feature popular songs from the past six decades to help tell the tale of a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion. Lucasfilm Animation Singapore and Industrial Light & Magic were tasked with the animation and visual effects.
This is a movie that came out of nowhere as far as I’m concerned and for that to be the case when it comes to something from Lucas I’m a bit surprised.
