Jack O’Connell Set to Star in Terry Gilliam’s Long-Delayed ‘Don Quixote’

If you haven’t yet seen Starred Up (read my review) starring Jack O’Connell I would definitely recommend heading over to Amazon and giving it a rent. It’s one of the best movies of the year featuring an actor you’re going to be hearing a lot more about shortly once ’71 and Angelina Jolie‘s Unbroken hit theaters later this year. And now he’s got his eyes set on the title role in Terry Gilliam‘s long-delayed Don Quixote according to Variety.

[amz asin=”B00N1Q6BG2″ size=”small”]Described as a modern and satirical twist on the tale, “Don Quixote” stars O’Connell as Toby, a jaded commercials director who travels to Spain for a shoot and comes across a gypsy who gives a copy of his student film — a lyrical re-working of the Don Quixote story set in a quaint old Spanish village. Moved by the discovery, Toby sets off on a bizarre road trip to find the little village where the student student film was shot and gets caught up in a series of catastrophies.

This is the seventh time Gilliam has attempted to make the film having failed previously with Johnny Depp attached to the title role. It will now head to the American Film Market for pre-sales as the budget is said to be around $21 million and filming set to begin in spring for an expected May 2016 release.
