With the news yesterday of Steve Jobs biography picture, Sony and director Danny Boyle are on the hunt once again for an actor to play the Apple co-founder. Well, they may have already found him in the form of Michael Fassbender, who is in early talks to take on the part. He may not be taking over the Batman cowl from Bale like I hoped, but the black turtleneck might fit Fassbender very well.
Like most reasonable people, I am a great admirer of what Michael Fassbender can bring to a performance. He can range from totally vulnerable to stoic intensity. He is one of those actors I will see anything he is involved with. I had not thought of him for this particular part, due to not much physical similarity, but the more I think about it, the more I really like this bit of casting.
I was really looking forward to hearing Christian Bale do that highly measured Aaron Sorkin patter, but I am just as interested in hearing Fassbender say some Sorkinisms. My interest fluctuates daily with all the recent news coming out about it, and this brings it back up higher. I hope it stays there.
