Disney has premiered the first poster for Rob Marshall‘s new musical, Into the Woods, based on the Tony-winning original musical by James Lapine and Stephen Sondheim.
Featuring a massive ensemble cast, Into the Woods surrounds a baker and his wife’s quest to break a witch’s curse in order to start a family. Along the way, they encounter several well-known fairy tale characters, and together they learn what happens after “happily ever after”. The film stars Meryl Streep, Johnny Depp, Chris Pine, Jake Gyllenhaal, Emily Blunt, Tracey Ullman, Anna Kendrick and Billy Magnussen.
This is one film that very well could have a big effect on the Oscar race once it arrives on December 25, though Marshall hasn’t exactly had the best track record since Chicago as Memoirs of a Geisha and Nine fell rather flat and Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides was… well… you know.
Let me know, you expecting greatness from this one or another Marshall dud?
