Will it be Dolphin Tale 2 or No Good Deed at the top of this weekend’s box office? The more I think about it the more I think I have to go against Laremy and the readers on this one. Laremy gave Dolphin Tale 2 a “sequel bump” in his predictions, but is this really the kind of sequel that gets a bump? I’m not so sure, and with Idris Elba and Taraji P. Henson leading the way for No Good Deed and Screen Gems cancelling all press screenings, eliminating bad buzz early on, it really could take the crown. Though I don’t think either film will receive much overall audience support in what is sure to be another lackluster weekend.
Laremy has Dolphin Tale 2 topping $20 million, I really don’t see that happening and neither do the readers, their predictions averaging $18.9 million. Laremy did go a little higher than the readers with No Good Deed, predicting a $17.4 million finish for the flick while the readers averaged out at $16 million.
Personally, I’m now more interested in seeing if The Drop can somehow make it into the top ten with only 500 theaters to its name.
I’ve included Laremy’s predictions and the average reader predictions directly below and I’ll be back on Sunday with box office estimates. To see Laremy’s full list of predictions and all 90 reader predictions for this weekend click here.
