Within the pages of Entertainment Weekly‘s Fall preview issue comes the first look at Paul Thomas Anderson‘s Inherent Vice featuring Joaquin Phoenix as stoner P.I. Larry “Doc” Sportello who is hired by an ex-girlfriend to investigate the disappearance of her wealthy lover.
The pic is small, and I don’t know about you, but Phoenix looks incredibly odd in the picture… almost like a character in a video game. I can’t tell if it’s the hair or if his face looks air brushed or what, but it looks damned weird to me.
The film is set to have its premiere at the New York Film Festival followed by a December 12 release.
