New Picture from Kevin Smith’s Walrus Horror ‘Tusk’, Plus Word on His ‘True North Trilogy’

Kevin Smith‘s Tusk was a film I long expected would have its premiere in the Midnight selection at this year’s Toronto Film Festival, sounds perfect for the fest’s weird and wacky sidebar and one I will be sure to check out. Following today’s announcement a new picture of star Justin Long has been revealed and I’ve included a close up above and the full-size look at the bottom of this post.

In Tusk, Long plays Wallace, a podcaster on a mission who thinks he has found the story of a lifetime in Howard Howe (Michael Parks), an adventurer with amazing stories and a curious penchant for walruses. When Mr. Howe’s true desires unfold, things take a dark turn and Wallace faces a terrifying transformation at the hands of his captor. As his friends Alison and Teddy (Genesis Rodriguez and Haley Joel Osment) search the backwoods of Canada to rescue him, they discover a nightmare from which there is no escape.

A24 will release the film on September 14 and Smith has already revealed its the first film in a new loose trilogy of features the filmmaker has dubbed the “True North Trilogy” with the next film being Yoga Hosers and the third something titled Moose Jaws and he’s already in pre-production on the Yoga flick, announcing on Twitter, “Spent the day in the YOGA HOSERS production office! Pre-pro has begun! Within a month, we start making the weirdest flick I’ve ever made…”

No word yet on what either film is about, though Smith has revealed Moose Jaws will be “Jaws with a moose” which sounds just about right.

Now here’s that full picture of Long in Tusk as well as the film’s trailer.
